3 Things To Do Before You Take Your Car Into An Auto Body Repair Service To Be Fixed

by Saira Tanis

If you get in some type of automobile accident or otherwise damage the body of your car, then it is a good idea to take it into an auto body repair shop, like Acheson Auto Body and Service Center West. They will be able to fix the body of your car and getting it looking as good as new once again. However, before you take your car into an auto body repair shop, there are a few things that you should do. This article will discuss 3 of these things in more detail.

Get An Estimate On The Cost Of The Repair

Before you agree to have an auto body repair shop fix your car for you, it is as good idea to get an estimate on how much it is going to cost. This will not only allow you to see if you are going to be able to afford the repair right away, but will also allow you to compare the prices at different repair shops in your area. While you may need to take your car into the shop in order for the estimate to be made, be sure that you explain that you don't want any work done on it until you know the price.

Check With Your Car Insurance Company For Coverage

Depending on how the damage occurred to your car and what type of car insurance coverage you have, you may be able to get some or all of your auto body repair cost covered. Calling before you take your car into the repair shop ensures that your insurance is in agreement with that repair shop to cover whatever portion of the repairs that they have agreed to. While it may take a big longer to contact your insurance and check your coverage, it is well worth it if the repair is covered.

Make Sure That You Have Alternative Transportation Lined Up

Because most repairs are going to take at least a couple of days, if not much longer, to complete, it is important that you have an alternative form of transportation in place once you drop your car off at the auto body repair shop. This means that you will want someone to pick you up after you have dropped your car off at the repair shop, but you will also want a rental car or other borrowed car to drive around during the days that your car is being worked on.
